Greg Stirling, Producer [play reel]
After earning a Business degree from Arizona State University Greg launched into the world of business by managing a province wide weekly magazine and later starting a full service printing facility which became a leader in the market. He also honed his marketing and production skills, working on a variety of regional and national consulting tenures with print and broadcast companies. Arriving on the West Coast in 1998, Greg attended the renowned Vancouver Film School , and immediately was immersed in the film and video world. His time behind the camera has led him to swim with Great White sharks off Australia and delve deep into the Amazon Jungle for documentary and short-feature films. Since 2001 he’s devoted his energy to helping Corporate clients develop innovative solutions to business through the use of Video and Film. Working with clients such as HSBC, Social Venture Partners, The NTV television network and 180 Business Solutions. When not behind the camera, Greg directs his energies to the passions of his life: family, Scuba, and mountain biking.
Carolye Kuchta, Writer
Carolye Kuchta is a professional writer, researcher, interviewer, and
editor. She is a graduate student in the English Literature Department of the University of British Columbia where she earned a
BFA in Creative Writing. She has written and assisted with multiple film projects ranging from Television Documentary to Corporate Video. A recipient of numerous university and college-level writing awards, Carolye combines compelling storytelling with persuasive language. Her journalism, fiction, and poetry have been published in newspapers, literary journals, and magazines across North America and broadcast in both the US and Canada. She is a volunteer interviewee for a 2008 Bountiful Films production and previously worked as an editor for the humanitarian organization Susila Dharma International.
Peter Stathis, Shooter
Pieter is a professional cinematographer, camera operator and Steadicam operator with over 10 years of experience. In his career, he has shot dozens of feature films, television series and commercials across North America . Born in Kyparissia , Greece in 1966, Pieter immigrated to Canada , getting an Honours BA in Linguistics and Fine Arts and working as a photojournalist in Toronto . Since moving out to Vancouver in 1992, Pieter has been the cinematographer on over 50 projects. His directorial debut, the 24-minute short Khamelion, premiered to a costumed crowd at the Pacifique Cinemateque on Halloween 2000. When not on set, Pieter teaches cinematography and advances in film production at the University of British Columbia . He is a long-time member of Cineworks Independent Filmmakers Society.
Kevin Hamiton, Sound
with Fresh Air Audio has worked as a Production Engineer and Producer for the past 14 years. Kevin has earned the respect and trust of a wide range of clientele. Known for his comfortable style of directing talent and his flexible and effective production techniques, he is considered to be a great source of innovative and cost-effective creative ideas, and a catalyst to success. His past credits in sound design include The Life and Times of Umberto Menghi, Suzuki Speaks, and Passageway.
Lesley Sutherland, Composer
Lesley has worked as a Composer for film and television for the past 13 years. She has composed the scores for several television series, specials and documentaries. In 2004, Lesley was nominated for a Leo Award for her musical score for Suzuki Speaks. Her credits include Fighting Their Fears, Suzuki Speaks, Waterman's World, Cosmic Odyssey, and several contributions to the Life&Times Series.
Torrance Hurd, Visual Effects
Torrance Hurd is a visual effects artist with three years of professional experience. A BFA graduate from the Simon Fraser University film program of 2001, Torrance has created visual effects for films; motion graphics for television programs and commercials; and computer animation for corporate and educational videos. Inspired by the great Hollywood visual effects masters, Torrance spent his formative years with the family video camera, and some might say his path was inevitable, after discovering that he could make his aunt disappear by rolling some empty background once she had left the frame. Since then, his experimentation's have increased in complexity, but always with the same innocent playfulness befit of any child who never grew-up.
Tony Dean Smith, Director
Tony Dean Smith was born in the political jungle of Johannesburg , South Africa . He is delighted to have his DGC Kick-start film, Reflection, touring the world and is currently directing 15 interstitial biographies for Global TV. He has directed a digital feature, short films and continues to hone his craft by working as a picture editor for film and television. His editing has brought him some prestigious awards, winning Best Short at the Toronto International Film Festival and Best Feature at the Montreal World Film Festival. He has also been nominated for a Leo Award and is currently developing a feature film, The Shrink.
Paul Bennett, Editor
An inspired video and film editor, Paul has been honing his craft for creative storytelling over the last 5 years. Having recieved his BFA from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Paul embraces a playfull aproach in his conceptual and creative process.
With a background as a filmaker, musician, music producer and DJ, the practice of instilling rhythmn and flow to the visual world of semiotics is intuitive to Paul. Personifying inanimate objects is also no longer just an amusing passtime for him to entertain his roomates.
